Abstract

Bi eginkizun ditu artikulu honek: batetik, berreraiketa morfologikozko ariketa baten berri ematea; bestetik, zientziaren alor ezberdinetan pentsatzeko moduak berdinak izan daitezkeela erakustea, are itxuraz urrun diren hizkuntzalaritza diakronikoan eta astronomian. Euskarazko inesibo singularreko sintagma zenbaitetan, hala nola lanean, hitzean eta halakoetan irregulartasun bat dugu, -e- epentetikoa: inoizko kontsonante desagertu baten lekukotzat hartu ohi da, eta -gan berreraiki izan da inesibo singularra; bestelakoa da hona dakardan azalpena. Era berean, Uranoren orbitan irregulartasun zenbait deskribatu zituzten astronomoek: hastapeneko bestelako proposamenak baztertuta, planeta ezezagun baten lekukotzat hartu zituzten, eta gaur Neptuno deitzen dugun planeta hor zegoela kalkulatu.
The aim of this article is twofold: on the one hand, I put forward a case of morphological reconstruction; on the other, I show that the way we think about very different scientific problems can be very similar, even in fields as distant as diachronic linguistics and astronomy. There is an irregularity in Basque inessive phrases such as lanean, hitzean, namely the epenthetic -e-: it is usually considered to be the effect of a dropped consonant; I offer here an account of the problem that differs from the traditional -gan reconstruction of the inessive postposition. Likewise, astronomers in the 19th century had described some irregularities in Uranus’ orbit: these irregularities were treated as evidence in favor of the existence of a then unknown planet, the planet we now call Neptune.
