Zer ote da ‘ote’? Partikularen analisi baten hastapenak

Abstract

Artikulu honetan ote partikula modalaren azterketaren lehenengo emaitzak aurkeztuko ditut. Horretarako galdetegi bat prestatu da, batetik, hiztunek galderak egin ditzaten ‒ ote-dunak eta oterik gabekoak ‒ eta, bestetik, haien iritzi gramatikala jasotzeko. Oraingoz bi eskualdetan burutu ditut galdetegiak osorik: Bortzirietan eta Garazin. Emaitzak alderatuta, partikula honi dagokionez aldakortasun dialektala lekukotzen da: lehen, ote -a partikularekin batera lekukotzen da Garazin; bigarrenik, ote ez-ohiko kokaguneetan agertzen da Garazin; eta, hirugarrenik, partikula lekukotzen den egoerak zabalagoak bide dira Garazin Bortzirietan baino. Lehen bi ezaugarrietan oinarrituta, Garaziko hizkeran ote Partikula Sintagmaren buruan eta espezifikatzailean ager daitekeela ondorioztatzen dut.

In this article I will present data about the particle ote collected in interviews realised in Garazi and Bortziriak. Each interview had two parts: during the first one speakers produced questions and during the second one they realised a grammaticality judgement task. Comparing the results from both linguistic areas, variation is attested: first, in Garazi the particles ote and -a can be used simultaneously; secondly, ote is attested in non-usual positions in Garazi; and, thirdly, ote is used in more contexts in Garazi than in Bortziriak. Based on the first two features, I will conclude that in the variety of Garazi ote can be the head and the specifier of the Particle Phrase.
