Intonazio kontornu unibertsalen eta ez unibertsalen pertzepzioa: galderak eta adierazpenak Markina-Xemeingo euskaran

Abstract

Intonazio sistemetan joera unibertsalak izanda ere, badira salbuespenak. Horren harira galdera bat sortzen da: intonazio-ezberdintasunek zenbaterainoko eragina izan ditzakete interpretazio okerretan hizkuntza bereko aldaeren artean? Erantzuteko Markinako esaldi deklaratibo neutral, enfatiko, eta galderen pertzepzioak aztertu ditugu. Parte-hartzaileak Markinako euskara, Markinakoa ez den euskara edota gaztelania ama-hizkuntzatzat daukaten euskaldunak izan dira. Estimulu bakoitza behin entzun ondoren, galdera bat den ala ez erantzuteko eskatu zitzaien. Emaitzen arabera, Markinako hiztunek estimuluak beste taldeek baino zehatzago interpretatu zituzten. Emaitzek, intonazio esanahiaren ikuspegi ez-unibertsalista babesten dute, joera unibertsalekin bat ez datozen kontornuen interpretazioan.

The interpretation of intonational contours is not universal. An issue that arises is to what extent intonational differences may lead to misinterpretation across varieties of the same language. We examined the perception of statements and questions in Markina Basque by native speakers, speakers of other Basque dialects, and L1 Spanish/L2 Basque speakers. We selected 8 texts, four multi-phrase and four single-phrase. The pitch contours of these recordings were also manipulated. MB speakers were significantly more accurate in their interpretation of the unmanipulated and manipulated stimuli than the other two groups. The results support a non-universalist view of intonational meaning in the interpretation of contours that do not conform with universal tendencies.
