Abstract
Alzheimer gaitza da neuroendekapenezko gaixotasun ugariena adineko pertsonen artean, eta gaur egun ez dago horri aurre egiteko tratamendu eraginkorrik. Hala ere, zientzia komunitatea estrategia itxaropentsuak ari da garatzen, eta horietako bat da faktore neurotrofiko eta angiogenikoen erabilera. Faktore horiek terapia genikoaren bidez garuneko zeluletan txerta daitezke tokiko ekoizpen iraunkorra lortzeko. Bektore ez-biralak aukera egokia izan daitezke interesatzen zaizkigun faktoreak kodifikatzen dituzten plasmidoak garunera bideratu eta bertako zelulak transfektatzeko. Gainera, berriki argitaratutako datuek iradokitzen dute bektore ez-biralak sudur barneko bidetik (eman bide ez-inbaditzailetik) helarazi daitezkeela garunera. Beraz, eskuartean dugun proiektuak bide berritzaile eta itxaropentsua eskaintzen du Alzheimerraren aurkako tratamenduen ikerketan aurrera egiteko.
Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most extended neurodegenerative disorder among old-aged people, and no effective treatments exist so far. However, the scientific community is currently developing some promising approaches to target AD, and one major strategy involves the use of neurotrophic and angiogenic factors that can be internalized in neurons for a local and sustained expression. Non-viral vectors have the potential to carry plasmids codifying the factors of interest into the brain and to transfect cerebral cells. Moreover, recent evidence suggests that non-viral vectors can be administered intranasally to target the central nervous system, which constitutes a non-invasive route of administration. Therefore, the present project provides an innovative and promising approach to address AD, as well as other neurodegenerative disorders.
